Fall on the River

Kendal, Grandpa, and Mommy loved the rocks on the river today. Mommy and Grandpa even walked all the way across with no problem. The river is very low right now. Grandma loved it too, but was busy taking the pictures.

Fall Magic in the Woods

These are just a few of the things we are finding now that the forest floor is opening up. Unfortunately we did not have any puff balls this year. Missed them, as they are very good eating. It was just too dry the end of August and early September. Next year.

From Bugs to Spider Feast

The very small bugs with white wings were swarming in the front meadow in the morning. By the time we went for our afternoon ride in the woods they were food for the numerous spiders in their webs, such as the one pictured.

Our Little Slice of Heaven

For those of you who look at this blog and wonder where we live, love, and thoroughly love life, these pictures are of our farm. Our home was built in 1876. The outside brickwork and the outside windows are the original. The inside was redone, but we did reuse the original maple flooring and wainscoting. We opened up the upstairs and exposed the circle windows on all four corners of the house. We finished remodeling our barn which was built in 1932 this spring. It is our "vacation" home.

A baby Bull Snake - our latest discovery in the back yard. Luckily we did not see Mom or Dad. We also have a 5 line Prairie Skink that has made a house visit the last two summers.

The tomato crop is excellant this year. This is just one of many baskets we have picked already, and they are delicious. We even have them with our bacon and eggs.
